Common questions

How does this Hebrew level test work?

You tap the words you know in real Hebrew sentences and answer a few short questions built from today's Israeli news. It adapts as you go and estimates your reading level in about two minutes — no sign-up needed to see your result.

Why is this test different today than it was yesterday?

Every day's test is built fresh from that morning's real Israeli news, so the sentences and headlines change daily — just like the app itself. Your level estimate stays consistent; only the material it's drawn from is new each day, so you can come back and test on today's stories anytime.

What do the CEFR levels (A1–C2) mean?

CEFR is the international scale for language ability. A1–A2 are beginner (basic words and short sentences), B1–B2 are intermediate (you can follow real news), and C1–C2 are advanced (near-native). CEFR isn't officially standardized for Hebrew, so your result is a well-reasoned approximation.

How do Ulpan levels (Aleph–Vav) map to CEFR?

As a rough guide: Aleph ≈ A1, Bet ≈ A2, Gimel ≈ B1, Dalet ≈ B2, Hey ≈ C1, Vav ≈ C2.

Is this an official placement test?

No — it's a free self-assessment to help you start reading at the right level, not a certification or an ulpan entrance exam.
